Style Over Substance (Jane Doe Six Sentence Stories)

“But I’m not sure I want to actually marry him,” Kathy finishes.

“Well, what kind of wedding can he afford to give you?” Torrey asks. “Can he give you Vera Wang and live doves in Rome?”

“It’s him I’m considering, not Rome,” Kathy retorts.

“Oh, honey, you don’t say yes to the man. You say yes to the dress.”

  1. From one who eloped 33 years ago (and still going strong) and got married in a suitable white suit, I’m addicted to watching “Say Yes To The Dress” just for fun. A dress does not a marriage make. Love the easy, breezy dialog.

  2. There seems to be an inverse relationship between the cost of the wedding and how long the marriage lasts. My mom used to love that show, but I know she was glad I walked into a bridal shop with my best friend, tried on a couple of dresses, said “this one” and took it home that day. The end. Married 25 years this summer 🙂
