“But I’m not sure I want to actually marry him,” Kathy finishes.
“Well, what kind of wedding can he afford to give you?” Torrey asks. “Can he give you Vera Wang and live doves in Rome?”
“It’s him I’m considering, not Rome,” Kathy retorts.
“Oh, honey, you don’t say yes to the man. You say yes to the dress.”

Every week, Ivy at Uncharted hosts the Six Sentence Stories flash fiction linkup and blog hop. This week’s cue was DRESS. Fun sixes from other writers are at the link. Join us! It’s fun!
From one who eloped 33 years ago (and still going strong) and got married in a suitable white suit, I’m addicted to watching “Say Yes To The Dress” just for fun. A dress does not a marriage make. Love the easy, breezy dialog.

I’m not a TV watcher myself. My hubby and I had a pretty little wedding in a park, spent less than $1000 on everything. Only way to go.

40 years and still going here. Glad she said yes to me… and the dress was pretty smart too! Nice job on this one. So many miss the point

Congratulations!!! I once worked with a woman who was 33 and on her fifth husband. She liked GETTING married, just not BEING married.

If you are marrying because you want to have a fantasy wedding, you aren’t spending enough time planning a marriage. Great story!

With friends like Torrey, who needs enemies? Hope Kathy isn’t swayed by that line of reasoning. Great SSS.

Ha! She sure needs to dump her friend or at least her advice. She might want to talk to Paul who’s says no to the dress. Smart six, well done.

There seems to be an inverse relationship between the cost of the wedding and how long the marriage lasts. My mom used to love that show, but I know she was glad I walked into a bridal shop with my best friend, tried on a couple of dresses, said “this one” and took it home that day. The end. Married 25 years this summer 🙂
