Becca waits until her phone dings the alert that she has a new voice mail, then keys the little tape recorder icon. Sure enough, another bill collector, another credit card.
Of course she has the money she was able to get from Richard before he succumbed to his injuries, but that’s not for bills. It’s for emergencies, to protect against God-knows-what might come down the line. At least Richard’s hagatha sister hadn’t been able to block that.
How many phone numbers does she have to block before they just leave her alone?

This is a Six Sentence Stories installment from The Life and Times of Jane Doe. The cue was “block.”

Excellent! I wonder what the answer to that last question is?

There is always someone calling me about a security system or some other such crap; I block someone every day. Good post good use of the cue.

Many of the calls I get come from Asia, even though I am on a no call list it makes no difference. It is just one of the pitfalls of our present communications revolution!

the telephone does have a way of empowering the annoying, with it’s inexhaustible capacity to reach out and touch someone.

I’m intrigued by the line “Of course she has the money she was able to get from Richard before he succumbed to his injuries.” THAT’S a story right there.

Good eye! It is indeed a part of the story. I’m practicing foreshadowing, lol.
